The Devil Tries to Make Jesus Do Wrong

1. Then God’s Spirit took Jesus further into the desert so that the devil would try to make Him do wrong.

2. Áftá Jízọs dọ́n fást fọ fọ́tí dè an fọ́tí nait, I kọ́n de họ́ngrí wẹ́l wẹl.

2. After Jesus had fasted for forty days and forty nights, He was very hungry.

3. Naím dẹ́vul kọ́m mít Jízọs tẹ́l Am sé, “Íf Yu bi Gọd Pikin, mék Yu tẹ́l dís ston-dẹm mék dẹm bikọ́m brẹd.”

3. Then the devil came to Jesus and said, “If You are God’s Son, tell these stones to become bread.”

4. But Jesus answered him, “The word of God says, ‘It is not only food that a person eats that will make the person to get real life, but it is every word spoken by God that a person needs to get real life.’ ”

5. Then the devil took Jesus to Jerusalem, which is the Holy City. He caused Jesus to stand on the highest part of God’s House.

6. Then the devil said to Jesus, “If You are God’s Son, throw yourself down. This is because the word of God says, ‘God will command His angels to protect You. They will carry You up in their hands so that You will not hit Your foot on a stone.’ ”

7. Jízọs ánsá am sé, “Bọt Gọd-wọd tọ́k tuu sé, ‘Mék yu nọ́ de traí Gọd, wé bi yọ Ọgá.’ ”

7. Jesus answered him, “But the word of God also says, ‘Do not try to test the Lord who is your God.’ ”

8. Next the devil took Jesus to a very high mountain. He showed Jesus all the countries of the world, and their great power and beauty.

9. Dẹn dẹ́vul kọ́n tẹ́l Am sé, “A go gív Yú ọ́l dís tins, íf Yu go níl daun an rẹspẹ́t mí wẹ́l wẹl.”

9. Then the devil said to Him, “I will give You all these things íf You will kneel down and show me great respect.”

10. Naím Jízọs tẹ́l am sé, “Kọmọ́t fọ hia, Sétan! Gọd-Wọd sé, ‘Pẹ́sin mọsto baú daún to Gọd wé bi im Ọgá fọ ték rẹspẹ́t Am wẹ́l wẹl. An na ónlí Am di pẹ́sin mọsto sav.’ ”

10. So Jesus said to him, “Get away from here, Satan! The word of God says, ‘A person must bow down to the Lord his God to show Him great respect. And only God alone the person must serve.’ ”

11. Naím dẹ́vul kọmọ́t lív Jízọs, an Gọd énjẹ́l-dẹm kọ́n kọm, an dẹm hẹ́lẹ́p Jízọs.

11. Then the devil left Jesus and God’s angels came and took care of Jesus.

Jesus Starts to Preach God’s Message to People in Galilee

12. When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, He went back to Galilee.

13. I nọ́ sté fọ Názárẹt. I kọmọ́t fọ dia kọ́n gó de lív fọ Kapániọm, wé bi wọ́n taun wé dé niá di bíg-díp-wọtá wé dẹm de kọ́l ‘Lek Gálíli’. Di taun dé fọ Zẹ́búlun an Naftáli éria.

13. He did not stay in Nazareth. He went from there to go and live in Capernaum which is a town near Lake Galilee. It is a town in Zebulun and Naphtali area.

14. Jesus did this so that what God spoke through Prophet Isaiah, would happen as God had said. God said,

15. “Zẹ́búlún land an Naftáli land, wé dé fọ di rod fọ fọ́ló gó di bíg-díp-wọtá wé dẹm de kọ́l ‘Lek Gálíli’. Dẹm dé fọ di ọ́dá saíd ọf Riva Jọ́dan. Dís éria bi Gálíli, wiá pípul wé nọ́ bi Juu de liv!

15. “Zebulun land and Naphtali land, on the road to the large body of water called Lake Galilee, on the other side of the River Jordan. This area of Galilee where people who are not Jews live!

16. Di pípul wé de lív ínsaíd dáknẹs dọ́n sí bíg lait. A de tọ́k am agen sé, lait dọ́n shaín ọntọ́p di pípul wé de lív fọ land wiá dai dọ́n ték dáknẹs kọ́vá am.”

16. The people who live in spiritual darkness have seen a great light. And for those in the land living in the shadow of death, saving light has shined on them.”

17. Frọm dát taim de gó frọnt, Jízọs Imsẹf kọ́n stát to prích Gọd mẹ́sej to pípul. I sé, “Mék una tọ́n awé frọm to de tínk an dú wétín Gọd nọ́ want, an mék una tọ́n to Gọd. Dis na sékọf sé, di taim wẹ́n Gọd go rúl Im pípul as King dọ́n dé nia!”

17. From that time forward, Jesus started to preach God’s message to people. He said, “Turn away from your ways of thinking and doing what God does not want, and turn to God. Because the time when God will rule His people as King is near.”

Jesus Tells Four Fishermen to Follow Him

18. As Jesus walked along the waterside of Lake Galilee, He saw two men who were brothers. They were Simon, also called Peter, and Simon’s brother named Andrew. They were casting their nets in the lake to catch fish because they were fishermen.

19. So Jesus said to them, “Follow Me and I will teach you how to cause people to follow Me, instead of you having to catch fish.”

20. Right away they left their fishing nets and followed Jesus.

21. As Jesus continued to walk from there, He saw two other men who were brothers. Their names were James and John. They were the sons of Zebedee. They were inside their boat with their father Zebedee repairing their nets used for fishing. So Jesus called the two brothers to follow Him.

22. At once they left the boat and their father and followed Jesus.

Jesus Teaches, Preaches, and Heals Sick People

23. Then Jesus traveled all over Galilee and taught people in the houses where they worshipped God. He also preached the Good News to the people that, God will now start to rule His people as King. And Jesus cured the people of all kinds of sicknesses and diseases.

24. Then the news about Jesus spread throughout all places in Syria. This made people bring all of their sick to Him. They brought people with all kinds of diseases and severe pain. They also brought people who were possessed by demons, epileptics, and people who were paralyzed. They brought all these sick people to Jesus, and He healed all of them.

25. Plẹ́ntí plẹ́ntí pípul fọ́ló Jízọs. Dís pípul kọ́m frọm Gálíli an frọm di éria wiá di Tẹ́n Taun-dẹm dè. Dẹm ọ́lsó kọ́m frọm Jẹrúsálẹm, frọm Judia, an frọm di éria wé dé di ọ́dá saíd ọf Riva Jọ́dan.

25. Large crowds of people followed Jesus. The people came from Galilee and the Ten Towns They also came from Jerusalem, Judea and from the area on the other side of the Jordan River.
